Scott gets 200 WINS!!!

Clear Creek Varsity Head Coach, Scott Simonds, collected his 200th win Friday, October 22, against Clear Springs at Carlisle Fieldhouse. Coach Simonds has been the Varsity Head Coach at Clear Creek High School for 7 years and has averaged 29 wins a year. He was the assistant Varsity Coach at Clear Creek for 5 years before becoming the Head Varsity Coach.

Milestone

Creek coach Scott Simonds won his 200th game last Friday. It’s a pretty remarkable achievement, considering Simonds has coached just seven years for the Lady Wildcats.

That’s an average of almost 29 wins a season.

“It’s a nice little milestone,” Simonds said. “I didn’t have much time to think about it since we have the district title to fight for, but I’m sure it will sink in after the season is over.”

Simonds, of course, credited his success to players and talent. But that’s a bit of a short sell. It’s hard for any one to win 200 games, no matter the sport or place.

Simonds joins an already crowded list of successful volleyball coaches in the county who have had long staying power and success. Santa Fe’s Anna Marie Milligan and Dickinson’s Mitzy Matthews are approaching 700 career victories. Friendswood’s Jerry Linch has nearly 250.

People always ask if Galveston County has good volleyball. The response is simply: look at the coaches, records and why they continue to stay.

We went to the game with the Arnett's. I knew that we all needed matching shirts for the game. I bought the kiddos silly string to shoot at Scott and we made a banner. FUN TIMES!
